Minimal Runner Sneakers — Common Projects
We designed the Minimal Runner to bridge the gap between athletic performance and everyday elegance. This silhouette strips away unnecessary detail while retaining the cushioning and support you need for all-day wear. The upper is constructed from premium Italian full-grain leather, sourced from the same tanneries that supply our Achilles and Track models. Each pair is handcrafted in Italy using traditional techniques refined over decades.

We source our leather exclusively from Italian tanneries that have perfected their craft over generations. The full-grain hide used for the Minimal Runner retains the natural texture and strength of the top layer, which means the sneaker develops a unique patina as you wear it. Unlike corrected-grain or bonded leather, full-grain ages beautifully rather than cracking or peeling.

Sizing and fit guidance
The Minimal Runner fits true to Italian sizing, which typically runs one size larger than US sizing. If you normally wear a US 9, we recommend ordering an IT 42. The toe box offers a medium width that accommodates most foot shapes without feeling narrow or overly roomy.
Because the leather is unlined in the forefoot, expect a snug fit during the first few wears. The hide will relax and conform to your foot within about a week of regular use. If you prefer immediate comfort or have a wider foot, consider going up half a size. The padded collar keeps your heel locked in place even when you size up slightly. We do not recommend wearing thick socks with this model, as it’s designed for a streamlined fit with dress socks or no-show options.

Care and maintenance
Brush the leather gently with a soft horsehair brush after each wear to remove surface dust. For deeper cleaning, use a damp cloth with a small amount of saddle soap, working in circular motions. Avoid soaking the sneaker or using harsh detergents, which can strip the natural oils from the hide.
We recommend conditioning the leather every four to six weeks with a neutral cream conditioner. Apply a thin layer with a soft cloth, let it absorb for ten minutes, then buff to a subtle sheen. This keeps the material supple and prevents cracking. Store the sneakers in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. If they get wet, stuff them with newspaper and let them air-dry at room temperature — never use a heat source, which can warp the sole and stiffen the upper.

Common questions about the Minimal Runner
The Minimal Runner features a more technical silhouette with visible midsole cushioning and a sportier toe shape, while the Achilles Low maintains a court-shoe profile with a flatter sole. Both use the same Italian leather, but the Minimal Runner offers more padding in the collar and a thicker insole for extended comfort. If you prioritize a dressier look, the Achilles Low is the better choice. If you want a sneaker that handles longer walks without sacrificing style, the Minimal Runner excels.
The leather upper is not waterproof, so we recommend avoiding heavy rain or puddles. Light moisture won’t damage the sneaker if you dry it properly afterward, but prolonged exposure can stain the leather and weaken the adhesive bond between the upper and sole. For wet climates, consider applying a leather protector spray before your first wear. This adds a barrier against water and salt without altering the appearance.
The cost reflects Italian craftsmanship, premium materials, and construction methods that prioritize longevity over speed. Each pair is assembled by hand using full-grain leather that improves with age rather than deteriorating. The EVA midsole is heat-compressed for consistent density, and the outsole is cemented and stitched for durability. Most customers find that these sneakers last three to five years with regular wear, which translates to a lower cost per wear than cheaper alternatives that need replacing annually.
Expect five to seven full days of wear before the leather fully conforms to your foot. The initial stiffness is most noticeable around the heel counter and across the vamp. Wearing the sneakers for shorter intervals during the first week helps speed the process. Some customers apply a leather conditioner to the inside of the heel before the first wear to soften the material. Once broken in, the fit becomes noticeably more comfortable and personalized.
We sell replacement laces in the same waxed cotton used on the original sneaker. The laces measure 120 cm in length and come in all our standard colorways. You can also use third-party flat waxed laces of similar length if you prefer a different texture. Avoid round athletic laces, which create an incongruous look with the refined upper. The metal eyelets are durable enough that you can swap laces frequently without causing wear.
Yes, each pair includes two cotton dust bags embossed with our logo. Store the sneakers in these bags when not in use to protect them from dust and light exposure. The bags are breathable, so they won’t trap moisture. We also include a spare set of laces and a small care card with basic maintenance instructions. The shoebox itself is sturdy enough for long-term storage if you prefer to keep the original packaging.
Many cobblers can replace the rubber outsole once it wears through, though the process requires separating the midsole from the upper. Because the sneaker uses both cement and stitch construction, a skilled cobbler can detach the sole, clean the mating surfaces, and attach a new outsole without compromising the leather. This extends the life of the sneaker significantly. We recommend finding a cobbler experienced with luxury sneaker repair, as improper technique can damage the upper.
